Artemesia Gentileschi

I have been looking at the work of Georgia O'Keefe and those of you who are familiar with her flower paintings will probably see her influence on the painting I have done of Dark Niobe which is one of my favourite clematis.

Love playing tennis and love watching it too.   I am a great supporter of Andy Murray of course (he is a fellow Scot after all) because he has such variety of shots in his game and his matches are always interesting to watch.

Irises

In my garden grows a beautiful iris called Black Swan.  The upper petals are like silk and the lower ones are like velvet.

I learnt from the Chelsea Flower Show that Cedric Morris was not only a great painter of flowers but he was a keen grower of Irises.  This is his painting of 'Iris Seedlings" done in 1943.  Irises are very beautiful and very inspirational to paint.

Red finesse with a Modigliani lady

I love flowers and wanted to paint some roses which I grow in my garden.  They are called Red Finesse.  The painting needed some white in it and so this lady by Modigliani came to mind so I popped it in.
